Yeah, Scoop has sort of run away with herself, she went from a throwaway excuse for exposition to love interest who will charge an immortal legend that is decked out in named power hooves and a pair of shock hooves while armed with nothing but a pen.
The Jack wrote:Also, I must note that BARON has indeed shown him/her/itself to be an unique character, despite the initial similarities with Steelhooves. :P
feeew, I'm glad he was able to sporate himself from the other immortal companions such as SteelHooves and Rampage.
The Jack wrote:Secondly; the perk. I am tempted to force you to add an addendum that has Ocher meta-commenting on it, going something like ""The Wastelands brutal experiences..." Noooo... Ya think?!". Because he totally could. For a moment there, you had more TPS (Torture Per Second) than even Somber. Well, untill the last PH chapter, that is, but still.
Yeah, when I got a comment to that effect on FIM I was thrilled, I had finally out done Somber in something... then 33 came out and I was like "Oh Come On!"
The Jack wrote:And thirdly, and most importantly; Ocher! Y U NO happy with cybernetics! Seriously, if I had woken up after having my eye burned out, only to find that I now had a cybernetic one instead, I'd be jumping with joy. Eh, well, at least if I knew it was unhealable, which I guess would explain his reaction. At any rate, yay cybernetics! xD
Well, there is the fact that it weighs a solid 7 pounds (about 3 kilos), looks like crap and makes him nauseous to use. "I never asked for this"
The Jack wrote:Damn it Kashin, now I can't stop thinking about giving Gears a cybernetic eye! I think I shelved that idea ages ago, but because of you doing it out of the left field it popped up again!
Geh. Say, do you have any plot-reason for it to be there, or is it just because of the awesomeness of a cyber-were-pony?
There is a major reason for it now, though originally I was going to go for full cyber pony (as in Deus levels of implants; crush his leg in a stable door, replace the majority of his skeleton with metal, and a slue of other implants from NV "More machine now than pony") this is a scrapped plot thread so these are not spoilers) and throw in a whole slue of issues where the pain issues from Deus were solved too well and eventually leads to near total nerve death so unless something is agonizingly painful Ocher couldn't feel anything (given how dependent he is on pony contact this would arguably be worse that what happened to Deus). It would get so bad that he would get the everliving daylight beat out of him just so he could feel something again. I also had a particularly twisted encounter with an electromagnet trap in the floor disabling him and slowly (literally) ripping his implants out of his body (note his skeleton would count as an implant at that point). But I scrapped that path when I saw the prevalence of Cyberponies in the side fics :pipshrug:
Adder1 wrote:First and foremost, I honestly have no complaints for this chapter. Really, I mean it. It's probably due to the fact that these are all indoor areas that being detailed so there's no open environments to weigh them against this time, but let's just leave things at what I can read and say- well done.
The next few chapters will have more detailed exteriors per your suggestions.
Adder1 wrote:The Blade affecting him through the memory orb... that was a nice, disturbing touch there. It was a bit ominous and perhaps a bit overblown with how it spoke to him, but the desired effect was nevertheless achieved.
yeah, I was a bit worried about the dialog, you should have seen my first draft on that, utter cheesy swill, I mean it was superman villein levels of cliche.
Adder1 wrote:Oh. Yay. Cyberpony. Don't tell me he's going to dye his coat and become Red Eye. =P
... No comment :?
Adder1 wrote:It was interesting to see BARON get a teensy wee bit fleshed out a bit more from last chapter. At least he (Um... how do we refer to BARON?_ wasn't trying to kill Ocher or something. Or maybe he was lying, who knows?
Rule of hoof is just to use whatever his current "host" is.
Adder1 wrote:All in all, nice job with this one, Kashin. Keep it up. ^^
thanks

It has surprised me how few people are asking that.

... Woah. I thought it was Echo who did the pen thing. Scoop just became best pony xD
But yeah, I like her :3 You should certainly keep her xD

... What.
What are those cybernetics made from? Lead?
...
Or, well, a more realistic question; what is the rough volume they cover? I want to calculate the upper limit on the possible weight it can have. Seriously, 3 kilos sounds way too much.
The nausea should (hopefully) pass though. xD

So... It was originally a plot thread, but got scrapped, so now it's there because of the Rule of Cool?
...
Goodie. Then I will be doing it too. It's too good to not be used, and I love cybernetics. xD
The only problem is that I feel my fic is getting too long. I have already axed an entire arc because I want to keep it short; I'm afraid I'll never finish it. Just look at how long it takes me to finish chapter 2! Baah, I'm such a failure at this xD

Cybernetics are made from PLOT meaning they weight as much as the plot dictates, and can only preform the functions plot says it can.

Incidently I thought Icy Voice left because he hasn't really done anything that would warrant a cynical alternative to it.

I seriously thought you talked about ass here. My reaction was a big fat "WTF?" untill I realized it was the original type of plot you were refering to.

Also... it seems he has a plot-device. (Badjokeisbaaaadshootmenowplz)

well first off, you are right, I just added up the weight of its components and that was daft as it only uses bits an pieces, 4-5 pounds (2kilos) would be closer. As for size, pony eyes are easily six inches across and this thing covers a good quarter of his face with a lot of thechy bits from the power helmit shoved in the toaster casing.

Oh, it has its own plot thread now,

Your not a failure, just work at a slower pace/don't have as much time to devote.

Clearly you imagine ponies as being a lot bigger than I do! I picture them as being thigh-high to a human at most. The older series of MLP certainly had them around that height. I like this pic, though perhaps the pony is a fraction small in it http://fav.me/d418dk1

I visualize ponies to be at least the size of normal ponies, which I have understood is about waist-high to a human.

Also; "six inches across" is not volume, it's distance. How deep do the implants go? Does it just cover the surface, or does it go into the bone too?
Again, I don't think 2kgs is a realistic weight for something as delicate as a ocular implant. At most, maybe 1 kilo, and that's when it covers a quarter of his face. You might go up to 2 if it covers half.

Also; Hurrdidurr, if it has a plot thread now, then I should maybe get one too. *sigh*
And yeah, I work slowly... and that makes me afraid I'll never finish it, just like what has happened to every other fanfic I've tried to write out there. Granted, Fo:E was the first time Kkat finished a fic too, but still.

Ponies are equines that are under 14 hands high. 14 x 4 inches = 56 inches or 1.42 Meters. That measurement is made at the wither, which is the peak just above the shoulders, and is not affected by the pony raising or lowering it's head. Little ponies can be quite small! Compare the birds to the ponies in the show.

But then, I am biased as to how big I think ponies should be.
