I see MaW as the CIA (messing with other nations) and MoM more as the NSA of FBI (internal operations), but that's just me.
Yea, but just like the FBI I'm sure they have some undercover division as well. Plus I'm pretty sure the ops with Zecora was organized by both the MaW and MoM since I believed it said that Pinkie knew about it as well, but I may be wrong.

That's kinda what I was thinking. But I wanted a more paramilitary organisation which I didn’t really think that the MoM fit.

What’s your "Ghosties" outfit like? Would you mind if I nab them?

Actually last night I watched J. Edgar, and I realized the FBI did quite a bit of behind the scene covert ops. The movie hinted at that Hoover pretty much blackmailed each president into keeping his job.

Also the "Ghosties", that will just be the name Pinkie gave them there official name I'm still deciding, pretty much are the division of the MoM that run the surveillance operations and handle the more serious internal threats to Equestria. The headquarters of the division is in Forth Whoof along with the high security rock farm they keep the most serious threats. The division is run by one of Pinkie's sisters, though I'm not sure which one.

Your also welcome to use them, and if anypony has any suggestions on them let me know.

Thanks.

Can you tell me whether you think if what I need will fit with the “Ghosties”?

This is a basic rundown, but I can give more if needed:

My character discovers a hidden room in a store – probably a joke store, if it’s MoM :P – marked D-15. The place is full of weapons and stealthbucks etc. She also finds some files which tell of an increase in suspect items being smuggled into the city, and detailing a planned raid to seize much of it – these may be some of the Balefire bombs that are being smuggled into Equestria.

Folks, does anyone know what a "promotion" is called in the military? I'm not sure if they use the same word or not.

Also, do you guys think it's overkill to call that flamethrower toting pegasus for "Pyro"? While the name "clicks" in my brain as it should, I can't help but feel that maybe it becomes too many references to the same game? Even though Pyro in TF2 isn't the one who goes "I have yet to find anyone who can outsmart bullet" and "I. AM. BULLETPROOF!"

I can't wait to write that last one... xD

EDIT: I think I'm done with my first chapter now! =D
Now I just need to proofread it and post it ^^

I think they still call it a promotion.

I don't think it's overkill if you use "Pyro" as a nickname, but you might want to think of a proper name as well. Oh and while he my be "bullet proof", I would love to see how well his fuel tanks handle one of my .57 Explosive rounds.

Badly, probably.
Might use that actually... but I wonder how he'll survive it. xD
And, I managed to circumvent the whole "promotion" thing. Sounded too much like a business thing for me to use.

Hey, I'm planning on writing a spinoff (as if I would have a reason for posting here if I wasn't) and I had a couple questions that I could use some opinions on.

#1. This one's the most important:When writing, would it be better if I wrote the story around the original story and only the original story, or should I acknowledge the other major fics like Project Horizons and Pink Eyes? i.e. My characters couldn't encounter a sane ghoulified Silver Spoon because Blackjack met her and she was insane.
#2. Assuming I do take the events of Project Horizons and Pink Eyes into account, would It be considered plagiarism or something if my characters witnessed an event that happened in Project Horizons? i.e. My characters were listening to DJ P0N-3 and happened to hear something about Blackjack.

I'm not sure it's that big a deal, but I'm the type of person who tends to overthink this type of thing.

I think the best answer is however you feel. Technically all of the stuff here is plagiarism, well not really since none of us make any profit off of it. However, thats some of the fun of fan-fiction. We can explore stories in established fictional universes. If you want to include sections from the expanded stories in yours go ahead. Its all in good fun after all.

That is more of a personal preference, I would say stick to what you consider head cannon, for example at the moment my story considers Price of Paradise, Aqua Pura, and Pink Eyes as hard cannon and Horizons, ToC and Heroes as soft cannon.

If anything I would encourage that, it helps tie your story to the world as a whole and establishes when it occurs in the chronology.
