Backstory!

Pine Grove Valley, Pine Grove was part of a pre war experiment to create unflyable zones to limit the passage of dragons and griffins over pegasi land, it worked but was had no prejudice making the device useless until the war.

It worked by condensing the magic power of airways into a small strip of air, flying close to it would push a magical being away and passing through it (something almost impossible) would kill almost anything.

The device was expensive and was not much use as it only covered a small area, but when you have a valley rich in resources with only two entrances, one in the frozen north and one in equestrian borders close to a zebra beachhead it can limit attacks fantastically, The Pine Grove Valley was host to a large garrison of troops and was a prime place for refugees during the war, with densely packed towns springing up and farmers selling land at many hundred times more than they paid for it made Pine Groves a boon town at war time.

The high mountains where prime places for stables and many competing technological development firms where created. all airspace travel had to be done at low altitude as the last remnants of the Magi Unicornius set up a enclave here, they created storms over the flight blocking “Belt” that made travel over the mountains impossible therefore making trade through the town more profitable.

This place however protected was not untouched by the war, so many tanks climbed up the southern pass at the start of the war that there was a wall there created from burnt out husks and zebra bones, after a few years they pushed the zebras back, not the conventional forces, the place was a gold mine but hardly strategically important, private armies, companies that hired thugs and brutes to carry guns and keep their interests secure, it worked too more wealth was condensed into that valley then anywhere else in the world just a few hundred meters on either entrance and twenty miles where the valley is widest.

that small area was home to tens of thousands of ponies, well until the balefire blasts, its odd you know, there is no way of knowing if there was a blast there, if there was how did they sneak it in? all anypony knows now is that you can't fly over it, the only way in are two steel doors on each end, meters thick and enchanted to all hell, no signs of life from the inside, no radio signals, no nothing.

So how the hell do you expect to get in? An invitation from this “Richard?” sounds like a griffin name.

Listen to me, going in there is a fools dream! A waste! Its a fine story but just leave that place alone, let the dead lie until their bones are ash and the war is forgotten by the world.
You, a strapping handsome/ beautiful adventurer are set to join a company of thirty ponies as they follow an invitation by someone who only gives the name “Richard” into Pine Grove Valley.

This game will have a hardcore survival theme with high chance of death and many aspects of horror.

This will take place a few months before the gardens of equestria is activated so a few years after littlepip saved the small part of the world she happened to live in!

the party will use Mad Modds Tiered Equpment list

all players will start as LV1 and must write a backstory or i will hit them with a newspaper!

Cover:

Cover works in two ways moving gives you 10 defence, low cover gives you 20 defence and high cover gives you 40 defence.

If you end your turn while moving you gain 10 defence and you get an extra 5 defence for only using a melee weapon.

Defence is calculated simply by taking the defence score from the firing score.

if a raider is firing on you and you are in high cover you gain take the raiders skill, lets say 67 in firearms, now take 40 form that, the rider needs to roll a 27 or under to hit you, this combined with lower hp might offer a nice change to combat.

Cybernetics can be use by all players, you may half the starting caps and gain 1 (one) low cost cybernetic implant as agreed by the GM

I have my good old character Centra Blu to put into the game.

Centra is a pony who lived inside of the dark Stable 42. The stable was stuck with improper lighting due to it's experiments. While many say that the darkness would have no long term effects to the eyes, it's surely noticeable that Centra's eyes and other senses are not quite good, but otherwise, he's very able body and minded.

He normally is found traveling the land, sometimes with a group,sometimes alone, but always either with a goal to protect who he's with or find others to protect, as he understands their desires to live and sees his purpose as nothing more but to help others. When he found out about the unexplored Pine Groves, he naturally decided that he would go and protect the others he will travel with.

I'm available any day but Sunday, Wednesday and possibly Saturday.

Horror you say? Survival? The worst this wasteland has to offer. How wonderful it would be to play a fresh out of the stable character for this.

I find both the friday and the thursday time agreeable and the premise prommising. I would like to join with a character. My first thought is to play a somewhat naïve mare with a knack for mechanics and telekinesis. Tag: lockpicking; mechanics; medicine or science. One trick pony telekinesis. Best stat IN, she can keep many things in her head and is constantly pondering problems. Lowest stat PE as she tends to be distracted by thoughts and she goes into any task she is performing so completely she forgets about her sorouding. Name is Honey String, and her cutiemark is a thread and a needle, symbolising her knack for mending whats broken. How does that sound?

I made some tokens to be used for virtual tabletops such as roll20, might be of interest if you like a playing field for your games.

I would also encourage you to use Aqu's sheet (the less automated version). I haven't updated mine in ages. Also: do you mind if I reuse any of my chars already in other games? *cough*Mayhem*cough* :D

If we could play on Thursdays I would love to join, may be able to make a Friday game work but its much more tricky for me. Im working on a Zebra Alchemist atm in case you have room for me. Hope to hear back soonish.

Myself (InsanebowDash) and my friend (Sev) would be interested in joining. We have a very interesting character concept that we'd like to talk to you about though first. Maybe via PMs? It's just a concept. We have normal backup characters... or normal for the Equestrian Wasteland.
