FoE Roll20

hello all,
I have only recently joined this website, and was a bit surprised on the vast amount of people playing the game in text chat mode over IRC.
Is it just me that find the entire deal puzzling? I mean there are tons of voice chat programs that would streamline the entire experience. And most of the free.
Heck roll20's build in chat sucks, but it would make the game last less, or the players to accomplish more in the same amount of time.
Maybe it's just me, maybe I have been spoiled coming from dnd to fallout. But I fail to see why this is the preferred system here.
I have only played one game and I found it boring despite the creative scenery and good rp-ing.
Waiting 2 minutes to get a reply in a dialog.
Having to keep track of several tabs (ooc where you make the rolls) and (ic where the chat and narration happen) and only a small yellow blip tells you that you have to switch tabs to see if you are the one who has to roll something. And we haven't even gotten to combat yet.
I love Fallout, I love the ponies. I love FoE, the system is interesting and not really that unbalanced. (there are small things here and there but I dare you to name one system that is perfect) and I really want to play it.
But the text based mechanics, kills it for me. Is this the norm here? Is it the way the game is supposed to be played and I missed it when reading the book, or something else entirely?

Now that the rant is over, I want to ask are there any roll20 players here, any roll20 games (gametable, rpgtable, whatever) here? Any DMs? Any chance of finding (or heck making if i am desperate enough) a roll20 game?

Look deeper, we have a massive amount of roll20 resources, I also know there is a group makeing a sheet for roll20 when they update it to add sheets.

It's not about one particular way the game is "supposed" to be played. For some of us, voice chat breaks immersion. It makes it harder for us to get in character and/or stay in character.

Plus, some of us aren't comfortable participating in voice chat at all.

you just need to find a group that fits your needs.

i for once cant speak English very well. though my text replies are fast and i don't tolerate much players taking too long to reply. but in the speaking department i would be stuttering, and that is not good for dming.

As Shady has said, there are resources here for people who play on Roll20 - Palm's tokens immediately come to mind. And like the others have said, it just comes down to preference. Many prefer to play in IRC chats, but that doesn't mean that's how it's meant to be played. I'm GM of a game that uses Roll20 & Skype, and it works completely fine. Heck, the only time we use the Roll20 chat is for the (fantastic) dice roller.

thanks for the feedback, and i will try to search harder for a roll20 (or similar site)
also, Chysonallite, there wouldn't happen to be an opening in your game would it?

hi hi

Perhaps someone could make a roll20 sticky topic, with links to all the various roll20 resources?

Sorry, there isn't. I would love to have loads of people in the game, but I already have more people in my game than the system supports ( I have 7 players. :rainbowderp: ). Honestly, your best bet for a game would probably be to make a post on the Roll20 forums or create a Looking for Group listing and then give someone GM rights if you would rather be a player.
