Hey all, this is an idea I had today that intrigued me.
I want to build my GM skills, I also want to do random tests of combat rules so that we can iron out kinks in the system. To do this I'm proposing random groups being formed with like 10 minutes of prep. Randomly created scenarios and odd ball situations and character builds.
All of this will be rather hap hazard, with no actual story or long term plot. All I'm thinking of is practically a testing ground for the rules that need to be tested and to just have fun for the sake of fun.

Re: Random Group
My biggest concern would be when you want to hold these random sessions? It might be amusing sure, but there's still the factor of who can show up when.
Re: Random Group
anyone that's on at the time. Simple as that. No over arching plot, no long campaign. Just "You wanna play?" "Sure!" "Ok, lets get some NPC's and other players and go."

Re: Random Group
You might want to have a set time of week for this random group to meet, still. Ten minutes prep isn't long enough for a group that already has characters and a scenario planned out. Good luck getting half a dozen people through CharGen, coming up with a scenario, and getting it all off the ground in less than an hour or two.
