love this story, keeps messing with my head.
spoilers!
start of quest: with sidekick/ good friend
within five minutes: dead. unexpected

starts new life. goes along with new band.
not everyone as likeable, but still close enough to friends.
ambushed by raiders: everyone dead. again unexpected.

starts new life again: works with raiders who killed friends
rescues filly, filly tags along.
filly in danger, expected to die, lives! unexpected

because you have killed everyone who silver was emotianally attached to and with her before, i keep expecting serenity to die, more so because silver likes her more than she dares to admit.
this ads more tension and more unpredictability.
Keep up the good work!

ps. And please, please do not kill serenity.

also, its nice to see the development between Serenity and Hired. Serenity actually called Hired mommy. i wonder if Hired will eventually tell about her past and if she will tolerate ponies calling Serenity her foal or if she will stay to afraid to grow attached to ponies.
