Alicorn Discussion Thread

Post by DancesOnTheAshes » Wed Nov 23, 2011 5:35 pm

So I've been working on a side story set to start just after the big event of chapter 38/39, and one of the main characters is planned to be a free Alicorn.

The problem I have is that any information about Alicorns in Fallout Equestria is fragmented at best. Even the FoE Wiki is really vague. So I would really appreciate some help on their physiology and mentality.

Thanks.

Edit: I've renamed the thread so it can become a discussion about Alicorns for those of us interested in making a OC Alicorn.
Mods can move it if they feel it belongs somewhere else.

Hm. To my knowledge, we don't really know how they work yet. My best guess is that after the Goddess died, the surviving alicorns mentally connected to themselves, forming a sort of hivemind. Assuming that is correct, then there really isn't any way any of the alicorns could plan anything at all without the others finding out. And that might be a problem, eh?
Of course, if you figure out a good reason for it to be able to do so, I won't stop ya xD
I know next to nothing about their physiology though; so far, I'm assuming that they are exactly like ponies untill otherwise told.

Also, welcome to the forum! =D

An Alicorn with a bit more character would be like Lacunae from Project Horizons but even she has her boundaries.
I agree with the first part of The Jack's statement although I would think that when the Goddess died the Alicorns souls were lost with her or rather transported between the beings known as Alicorns (causing insanity) the only way to tell is if Pip encounters them again.

As or Physiology I'm guessing they're just bigger ponies with horns and wings. :)

Sorry for the muck on the alicorns page on the wiki I'll probably pend it a rewrite (some day)... :pipshrug:
"Sometimes, being honest means knowing when not to be."
"Youth leads to mistakes, mistakes turn to pain, pain gives way to anger, anger drives a wedge into harmony."
"Who is to say we are not insane? We're all a little bit insane. You just have to hide it."
"To be forgotten is worse than death."
"I dreamt of the end of the world and a sea of regrets."

Probably rife with spoilers if you haven't read all the way to chapter 42

Here is what i remember:
It's stated that only about 50% of the alicorns have joined red eye under his promise of mates. -Chapter 42
It's also stated that alicorns in the absence of the Goddess become much more individual and remember their former life. -Zebratown and Canterlot.
Insanity from the Goddess' absence is only theorized by Remedy to be a problem with really old alicorns (my guess is 100+ years). -MAS Cellar

My list of head-canon and pet theories:
From the "Touched by taint" perks Littlepip has I presume that radiation heals them to some degree. Plus it makes them faster and stronger when in radiation, pump 1000 points worth of rads into one and they become a super alicorn.

From Chapter 42 my guess is only the telepathically strong Green ones have the ability to create a new hive. And their consciousness would meld together into a fresh hive-mind preventing individuality. And even if they are telepathically strong it still required several dozen to force Littlepip to aim at Remedy.

Purple and blue aren't based as heavily on Gestalt and Mosaic as the green would, and their telepathy is probably bound to talking to others and empathy (only around other Pony races). And they would probably spread out Mariposa super mutant style, think Mean Sonofabitch and Marcus. What they would do after that is probably dependent on several factors including, former life, 'Goddess abstinence', character alignment, and just plain old plot necessity. For example some who were former raiders would probably continue reap havoc, some might start communities like Jacobstown and Broken Hills, probably mixed in with ghouls and other misfits.

While the goddess was alive any alicorn would have access to any spell present in the hive but they would only be good at their own "unicorn brand" spells + the spell color coded to them. Meaning a purple could cast invisibility and shield but not as well as a blue or green would. In the same vein a former repair pony could cast a healing spell but not as well as a former doctor. This would have disappeared when the Goddess died as she was the big hub, it would be as if the local internet server suddenly crashed (lots of lonely little computers wondering wtf just happened).

Regarding souls. Souls are resilient bastards and not easy to mess around with, so the spirit of each alicorn was probably still present in their own bodies, just suppressed by the Goddess. The only souls to float free was probably the ponies bodily absorbed by Trixie herself. And these dissipated to whatever afterlife ponies have shortly afterwards.

Anyway that's all I have atm. :pipshrug:
Feel free to correct me if you think I am talking out of my ass.

From the sounds of things, the Alicorns arnt sterile, if what the Greens said is ture. Although they may be so different from normal ponies that they can only breed with other Alicorns. But what if they could breed with other pony races? What would trhe resulting outcome be?

Also, a alot of former male Unicorns are going to have the wierdest, most discomforting period in their poor miserable lives.
