Just a few things I noticed from the latest episode and their effect on FO:E.
Ponyvill has been confirmed to be south west of Canterlot and the relative locations of the other cities has also been provided.
Timber wolves may be precursors or at least related to the moss beasts.
The zap apples seem truly sinister in light of FO:E's star aliens. They grow with the howls of monsters, strikes of lighting and showers of radioactive stones... that gives me a theory as to what the 'buck to the face' is in sparkle cola quantum. Oh and since they seem to be related to the wolves hunting schedule they may very well have grown for the same purpose as Fluttertree, to lure in prey.

If anything the map shows Canterlot, Cloudsdale and the Everfree Forest are all about equal lengths away from Ponyville. Good episode though, did not expect a history lesson.

I've got a feeling that the Zap apples are probably not related to the Timber Wolves directly, otherwise they'd probably appear for more than a day. I'm betting the Timber Wolves just understand that they're attractive to prey and howl to let the others know when they're about to bloom.
Another thing: Ordinary ponies apparently live a very long time. Maybe not as long as Celestia, but: "Ponyville was founded by Earth Ponies, so for hundreds of years, they've never needed magic to clean up winter." - Twilight Sparkle

I just had an idea that might make for a good plot hook in a FO:E RPG or side story. Since the Zap Apples grow magically, perhaps they're not effected by the poison that has soaked into Sweet Apple Acres. That means that for one day a year, you could find fresh food there. Actually harvesting the food would be a real challenge though. You'd have to have someone actually notice the signs first, then you'd have to travel there with enough ponies and wagons to harvest and return, and Timber Wolves might be the least of your competition. Deadliest harvest ever... (sadly, the trees don't grow unless they're near the Everfree Forest, so nobody can plant a new orchard anywhere safe.)
