Since I wind up talking about this in irc and such all the time, why not make an entire bloody thread for it?
Anyway, discuss one of the best F2P games PC has to offer!

"Best Free-to-Play" ain't saying much.
It's certainly not bad, but it's not what a new Tribes game should have been.

As someone who never played the original game, what should a new tribes game have been like? Also the number of good free to play games is rapidly growing.SilverlightPony wrote:"Best Free-to-Play" ain't saying much.

You want a real Tribes game, do a Google search for "Tribes Next". It's Tribes 2, re-released as a free game using community servers. Unfortunately, there's not many players left.
Quick rundown:
There are only 3 classes. Light/Scout, Medium/Assault, and Heavy/Juggernaut. There is only one version of every weapon, and every weapon can be used by every class except two: The Laser Rifle (sniper) can only be used by a Scout (and the scout must have an Energy Pack equipped), and the Fusion Mortar can only be used by the Juggernaut. The Laser Rifle is also the only hitscan (instant-hit) weapon in the game — everything else uses non-instant projectiles. Scouts have 3 weapon slots, Assault has 4, and Jugg has 5. Nothing is locked, and the Spinfusor (same Spinfusor for every class, mind you) is the go-to bread-and-butter weapon.
Oh, and it's a traditional FPS server setup — generally speaking, the servers are hosted by users, and frequently include (or included, back in the day) custom maps, mods, and gametypes.

Hmm, aside from the servers, I'm not sure why it has to be that exact setup, though I can understand how it would effect the game.
By the way, I have only one person to play with anyone want to add bdk336?
