How do I story?

Post by GaryGibbon » Tue Apr 10, 2012 2:34 pm

Alright. My story's chapters are ridiculously short. I mean, just over 2000 words. most writers can easily manage 6000 per chapter. now, want i want to know is, should I keep writing small chapters, or lengthen them? And if i should lengthen them, can you guys and gals give me some good tips on how to lengthen them?

Don't force them to be longer just because you think they need to be longer. Just write them however they feel right.

That said, if you keep writing, you may find your chapters naturally increasing in length as your skill improves and you get better at pacing and fleshing out events.

I agree with Silverlight, but if length is that big of a deal at this point, why not put multiple chapters together?

I agree with the above ponies. I don't attempt to get long chapters I just do, but long in this case seems to be 5000-6000. My first chapter of my fanfic was made by having five short chapters pasted together so of that's your style I recommend it. But in the end you just need to find your style and roll with it!
