Well the protagonist I am designing is a stuck up snob that one just loves to hate somewhat. Besides having a 'Rarity Dirt Complex' to everything in the Wasteland she is surprisingly gifted with Meele weapons and hoof combat.

Rivet has the talent of understanding things, but this leads to obsession. If he doesn't understand something, or sees something new, he has to physically restrain himself from tearing it apart to find out how it works. It also means he has a rather large ego, which is kinda the opposite of me... making it hard seeing as I'm writing it in the first person.

Quirks for some of my characters:

Ember: Pretty vain about her appearance. Like she gets shot in the flank in the first chapter and she cared more about the possibility of a scar than how much it hurt. It hasn't been shown yet, but she also likes to think out loud a lot.

Alpha: She pretty much refuses to speak out loud. She uses telepathy for all communication unless she absolutely has to speak.

Lets see,

Hotwire always uses a Zebra made anti-material rifle that uses a hoof trigger rather than a tongue trigger, because he thinks it's better and feels more comfortable. He tends to talk to machines and robots, even if they can't answer back. Can't stand the humming from Stable lighting, believes that is sounds eerily quiet. Thunderstorms make him very nervous. Growing up in the wasteland he tends to prefer fresh meat over 200 hundred year old fruits and vegetables. Tends to be a little too trusting of wastelanders. Doesn't like being pushed around and used for somepony else's gain.

Prism gets a bit reserved when talking about her family. She also can't stand that she is unable to she the energy weapons she grew up building and using. Suffers from claustrophobia, thankfully the military stable of Cheyeneigh Mountain is just large enough that it doesn't trigger it, as long as she stays away from crowds, though normal stables do. Despite her tomboyish personality she is very shy when it comes to her bathing and tends to bathe alone. She also tries to avoid getting wet.

Ember Pie, well lets just say she gets a lot of her personality and energy from her great great etc aunt. The sight, smell, and sound of fire and explosions calms her down. Tends to go overboard when it comes to the amount of explosives use. She also insists in using her flamethrower to cook ANYTHING she make, despite harsh remarks from her squad mates.

Penicillin gets a bit overprotective when it comes to his ghoul mother and mutated little sister. He has very bad bedside manner when it comes to his medical treatment. He also can't stand to hear anypony complain about how their life is, and will usually tell them to shut up and do something about it. Doesn't like using memory orbs after a bad experience with one.

These are just a few of them, there are more but many of them will be spoilers.

Interesting character quirks huh...

Overhaul - The Earth pony
Well my main character has a laser rifle which he simply HAS to have eg. sliced in half by a hellhound, balefire egged, frozen in ice, drowned... the list goes on, he's developed an unhealthy obsession to keeping it operable. Hes usually Sarcastic and often states the obvious to many questions. There are only 3 Things which make him angry - talking about how his father died, when anypony says his coat is yellow (ITS LIGHT ORANGE), and when anypony threatens his friends. Good at trying to cheer ponies up when they're down - immature and always upbeat, but difficult to cheer up himself. He believes that there is more than one way to handle a situation - eg open a safe with a torch cutter instead of picking the lock, or that duct tape really can fix all lifes problems.
Frequent quotes "Sweet Celestia" "HOLY FUCKING LUNA CHRIST" & "Its perfectly safe, what could go wrong"
He also carries around a small locket in the shape of a kite diamond, he thinks its lucky as every time he's lost it, it has always made its way back to him eventually.

Blackout - The Pegasus
Although shes an expert marksmare and stealth expert, she wants to use guns but can't - she knows how to hold and fire them accurately, but can't due to her 'Condition'. She doesn't mix well with electricity and explosives and DOES NOT mix well with large pools of water - rain is ok as she isn't fully submerged. She Tends to be the most mature of the group and her plans keep getting ignored for being 'too serious, and predictable'. Shes also impatient and has a short temper.

Xander - The Zebra
Prefers non-lethal methods of attacking - poison tipped arrows, smoke grenades and tear gas.Shes the youngest of the group - teenage/borderline adult, Strongly believes in the balance of karma and that for every good action, a bad one must follow - and vice versa. After discovering a camera as a small filly, she took an interest in photography. Young and immature like Overhaul, the two of them always drive blackout to the point of insanity, whether its singing, humming, or even just trying to cheer her up. Fearless of hellhounds, alicorns, and even dragons, the only thing that scares her is being alone in confined spaces - after she got seperated from her mother when the roof of a cave fell in, sealing her mother in a rocky tomb.

There are still other characters - Caliber curse (the slaver unicorn), Download (the Android), and an unnamed griffin with a russian accent (need a name for him, but griffin names are hard)
The equestrian wasteland is total freedom, but with that freedom there's a burden you must carry for the rest of your life. You have to be strong, face your fears and fight for your freedom, because if you don't, the wasteland will tear you apart.
One way or another.

Quirks? Look no further! Or look further, delve deeper, then back out and exit the terminal! Passwords all around!

About my character so far in the stuff I've written? Well, based on development I've got going for him, he's genetically insane. He will adopt any one of three different half-personalities at any given moment, each one contradicting the others. One of murder and bloodshed, another of peace and diplomacy, and another of random and Vigilante. He likes big booms, but has no idea how to handle a grenade. Killing isn't his style...until he pulls out a weapon. He grew up thinking he had no purpose, found a purpose, and now he wants no purpose anymore. His voice will drift from frequent curses and exclamations to polite etiquette to random other words.

King of contradictions! Fear his wrath! Or join it! Maybe he'll have delicious snacks at the reception.
Let it be known that these wretched lives shall be taken today under the watchful eyes of those innocents who have died, pleading for their blood to be shed...
... Or maybe we can just dance! Dancing is always fun with cold-blooded murderers! Lots of neat stories!
... Sometimes I wonder why I was given the ability to converse with myself... Or why this body of mine is part machine...

Interesting character quirks. Well, he's not a sue with powers or fears / courage that make no sense, nor does he have some kind of alternate personality in his head, or anything unreasonably silly like a fear of dirt when the wasteland is so full of dirt that you basically can't avoid it, but he does like wearing dresses.

Lets see, Dr. Lancet does suffer from arachnophobia. And he is a smoker. (Sin-Thetic Cigarettes, putting the Sin in Synthetic!) Really he's pretty sane, even if he has a history of taking in "broken mares." He tries very hard to "do no harm" with mixed results. There was the incident where a Stable bully came in for dental work and woke up with his heart in a jar beside him... but that was merely a motivator for him to mend his ways.

Cider Press is a strong, good-natured mare. She's a bit of an Amazon, I suppose. And when she is stressed she goes to Betsy and Mr. Splitter for advice over tea. I guess some might consider tea with a garter-wearing flamethrower and a monocled fire ax quirky.

The rest of the ensemble have their quirks as well. Chief Heads Up is a stickler for stable law. The twins from engineering, Rough and Tumble, are jerks of the highest caliber. Sunny Showers has timidity refined to a science. I could go on, but why read a character synopsis when you could dive into the story itself?
