group printing

Post by vacuumal » Sat Mar 17, 2012 9:14 pm

There is a Facebook group trying to get the book printed and the more people who join the cheaper it is going to be for everyone. http://www.facebook.com/groups/FalloutEquestria/

Here is a copy paste of the faqs.

How much will this book cost?
Based on the 200 people we have right now the price should be expected to be around $80US not including shipping.

What are the shipping costs?
In the US shipping is $4.99 flat rate. However, shipping international tends to be quite a bit more expensive which should be considered before ordering a copy. There is also the additional shipping cost of getting the books to one of the major hubs in the first place but that is dependant on the number of books we get.

What are the shipping hubs?
The major shipping hub is at the moment, Alex Petzen's house where they will be shipped separately to everyone else. We are doing this because the printer will not ship to multiple locations. Minor hubs are people that live close by to others that have arranged to meet locally to distribute books so we can reduce shipping costs by sending just one person multiple sets.

How many copies are going to be printed?
As many as we can get people to sign up for. The more people that sign up the cheaper it is for everyone. We won't however, do any printing at all unless we can get at least 150 people to sign up.

How do I pay?
Right now we are leaning heavily towards a premier paypal account so that people can either do a money transfer or use a credit card. Using a card reqiures an additional fee so it is best if you can just do a direct transfer. However, at this time we don't have anything set up and are working to get it together by around the 23rd.

Is there an option for cover type?
Originally we had voted on getting a hard back binding because they lasted longer and looked nicer. Now we are only printing in hardcover because splitting the printing to include paperback would cause the individual cost to skyrocket.

What printer is used?
We are using the online service at bestbookprinting.com.

Can you ship to (insert country that isn't the United States)?
Yes

Book Information
The book is being printed as a cloth bound hard back with a foil stamped title and spine. The paper is #50 uncoated offset book paper. The entire story is split up into five separate volumes.

Is there any way to get in on the book printing WITHOUT the use of Facebook. I am one of those who simply refuses to use Facebook due to still believing in some degree of personal privacy.

I'd gladly pay the $80 or so (as it sounds it costs) to get my own copy of the 5 volumes of this book. Now I'm even hearing that it's to late! I'd GLADLY pay for these if anyone fails to pay by a deadline. I just CAN'T access the facebook page, since I have no facebook account, and won't be signing up for one.

Tell me if they don't respond to you. Although I am not running the collection (thus not looking at the group email), I am the founder of the facebook group and can add you in if they don't. Just send me an email at georgebushnell@san.rr.com I check it every couple of days.

Sorry for being annoying. I've never done anything like this so I am confused. When we send our information to be put on the waiting list, do we wait until May 23rd to see if we can pay for a book? Or pay sooner?

From the FAQ on the book site.
You can, however you will be put on a waiting list. Send your information (Name, full name of person being shipping the books, full shipping address and number of copies being ordered) to foeprintproject@gmail.com and ask to be put on the waiting list. A good chunk of people have not paid yet, if they do not by may 23th, they will be replaced with someone from the waiting list.

Hey, I heard a rumour that you would do signups to the second printing here as well?
Any news or information about it? I'm dying to get my grubby little mits on those books!

I believe they said that Arcane Scroll was putting up a website for them where you could sign up but the sign ups starts first when all the first books have been shipped out and dealt with.

Still not accepting sign ups for the second printing, but that's where we will be announcing it :)

Oh! Thank you!
I'll be sure to keep an eye on that site. Now we play the waiting game.
