Fallout Equetria PNP
Re: Fallout Equetria PNP
Fair enough. We do kinda have different PoV on the game xP One want realism, one wants a computer/console game with multiplayer, one wants a simple one, one wants an online one and etc.
And actually, mine will be a tabletop one.
As what goes for balance, it's a bit iffy. EP doesn't really stick out in any way. Then again, as it's a quite "quick system", it's bound to fail at balance heh. Just take dragon age, that system is well... yeah ^^'
And as goes for the perk name. I'd say maybe something with "confirmed bachelor herd roamer", "confirmed rag/rake", "good as gelded" or something?
And if I missed something important to reply to, it's cuz I'm in a hurry ^^'

Quite a few more replies! Thanks for showing interest!
So I believe the general consensus is: Minor Telekinesis is fucking stupid.
Updated! Unicorns can now manipulate their immediate environment around them, bludgeon foes with weapons and lift firearms right from the get-go.
Sure you could! Just max out the Mighty Telekinesis tree and put points into lockpicking and stealth. Littlepip herself has said that she's 'not a very clever pony'. If anything I'd be more inclined to believe she's just got quite high Luck, but I think I'm going a lil' off topic here. (No pun intended, honest)
EDIT: Sorry Katt, missed ya out. "Good as Gelded" is excellent and totally in. Thanks What did you mean by 'EP'?

There are plenty of routes you can take in the system to deal lots of damage in various ways. I don't really want to get into depth about character specs since I kinda' feel that'd just be spoiling the game.FitzOmega wrote:So, a 7 level unicorn with 10 Int and End could just shield herself and use 5 (rounds) 1d10+10 damage.. Is there a disadvantage ?

Re: Fallout Equetria PNP
Kkat has said repeatedly that LittlePip has a persistent charcter sheet that hasn't changed except to level up and add perks for the entirety of the story. That implies that, yes, she should be able to be recreated.FitzOmega wrote:Mother of Goddesses

Re: Fallout Equetria PNP
In fact I'm not quite sure why neither I nor Strobe quoted the author in the first place; it's pretty explicit, you could actually make Lil'Pip in this system if you so wished it, with the spec i mentioned before.Kkat wrote:Littlepip is a unicorn with extremely low Versatility but very high Potency. A unicorn's base Versatility would be calculated from Intelligence and Potency from Endurance.

You're welcome ;P
And EP is short for earth pony. They just feel rather left out balance wise. I might have possibly overdone my version of the EP's. But yours have been left quite short. They don't really have anything that makes them stand out. Compared to D&D, EP would be humans, but with only a extra feat. UP and PP would both be races with level adjustments, but since no such rule exist in Fallout, they will always be left lacking behind in versatility. At least imo. The others races racial bonuses easily outmatch theirs in about all ways, no matter which level.

Re: Fallout Equetria PNP
Easy enough to solve. Give Earth Pony's their own track. 'Gadgeteering' or something similar. Give them Jury Rigging as a baseline ability and scale it up to Red Eye, Doc Slaughter and Deus level. Something akin to alchemy with enhancements, but tech focused. It would probably work out that the scarcity level of the higher end powers would be about the same as Twilight Sparkle+ Teir telekinesis and Wonderbolt Teir flight.
After all, its the earth pony way. Just look at what happened in 101.

Okay! Version 1.1 is out featuring racial perks for both Earth Ponies and Griffins as well as other minor bits and pieces added. Hopefully we can get some complete characters up soon!

Other then more racial perks for EP and Griffons, perk and spell/ requirements, and a quick explanation on what each SPECIAL stat does, I can think of two things I'm curious of.
One, Healing magic.
We know it exists, and we know unicorns have learned it, how can it be implemented here? I was considering making a supportive character built around helping the team... So this thought popped up.
Second, character interaction, IE: the "RP" of "RPG".
How do you think that should work out? If one of us decides to save each session and make a story out of this (which could be fun, actually) how should character interaction take place? Should we have "support bonds", similar to fire emblem's system? I'm curious how that could work.

Aight, first I can just say I went and tested it today and yesterday. So far people really liked it. Combat was smooth to an extent, not too complicated and easily oriented. The movement was a bit iffy, but it worked out. Skills would have to be re-wired somewhat. My group consisted of Pony Stark (engineer), Maregento (battle mage), Crack Shot (sniper) and Sin Lee (brawler) And I got my thoughts confirmed: 1: My test group were really taking this seriously, and 2: A EP melee character could cause severe *buy some apples* mayhem. But after a shotgun to the gut, he didn't fare so well any more. (went from 38 hp down to 9) But damn could he dish out damage when get reached them. It did make me have to regulate maximum starting stat, since he started with effing 96 unarmed % chance to hit (originally 100, but I nerfed EP racial a bit due to it) And he could have increased it to 117 if wanted.
@Fallen: That is not "similar" nor easy. Then you are balancing a entire race around the fact they should get augmentation for tens and thousand of caps. And force players to only play certain "classes". To compare to D&D: A level 10 sorcerer Vs a level 10 fighter. Neither has any equipment. Who do you think would win? And then we're not counting on the fighter to even have feats for improved unarmed combat, maybe he went for cleave or was range based?
If EP only could go towards becoming cyberponies or becoming obsolete and weaker then the other races since they are 120 % equipment based. The unicorn could still cast their spells of bugger all. A friend of mind counted out that the EP with equal stat and level could kill a unicorn after being dead 5 times over. And they could do so after the unicorn ran out of juice by then. And that is not a good balance of "yeah, but they are balance after they run out of power and have killed 5 of the other already, then the other has a chance". Now, I can't remember which RPG version it was, but I would guess the latest. I have to admit it sounded a bit over-done, but I'll have to check it out if that really could be true, since it sounded iffy when I heard it. Oh, and I also got to know that EP could win with good rolls if the UP didn't take a single perk to improve their magic and just sunk it into "social skills." Also, do note I've just been told this, I don't have to believe it for that matter.
But yeah, one thing I can agree with, it's that they should not be balanced around that. This is the wasteland, do you expect every single EP to have access to that high tech as Red Eye? That would *buy some apples* over at least 95 % of the EP population gameplay wise. Since at best, they'd be seen as little more then just "easy" enemies due to "oh, nothing to worry about, they can't do any fancy trick. Only we have to watch out for is their weaponry"
Anyhow: @Sunrise: I'll delve into your latest addition in a few whiles. Just have a few adjustments of my own to make.
@Ripped: I can agree that some parts still need working out, but hey, it's a WiP. Mine is still missing 95 % of the magic system xD
And actually, my RPG is the one that is the best in the "RP" manor, (at least of what I've been able to deduct so far) since I even got social, non-combat skills added just for such occasion. And friendship is encouraged with "friendship points" (in lack of better word) and with bonuses if staying true to your virtue. Reckless or evil characters would be left with less chance to survive or "do better". I will however just say it is the best in the sense of trying to be best. It has a load of flaws still haha.

Re: Fallout Equetria PNP
Looking at it again, I suppose Charisma would be a good canidate for a limiter on "support bonds". In Fire Emblem, units could have conversations, first is rank C, then B, then A, each rank adding a bonus set to an elemental affinity (IE one affinity would add dodge and crit, another attack power and hit %). Characters could have a max of 5 support conversations. Just use Charisma as a limiter, make a bonus system, and boom, relationships.
For example, I have a character set up for use, his SPECIAL is as follows: 5583865, meaning 3 Charisma. Going by the above system, he could make an A rank bond with one other character, but would need to boost charisma for any more. At the same time, the other character (and the player) would have to be willing to use his/her own supports on my character.
TL;DR: Characters can get buffs by being near characters they've bonded with.
