help a Fallout: Equestria newcomer

Post by paladinofbadassery » Sat Jun 09, 2012 2:28 pm

Ok, so I recently heard about Fallout Equestria and the fact that it combines Fallout and MLP, my favorite game and cartoon, I wanted o read it.
Now, I haven't actually started reading it, i'm planning to do that during the summer.
The thing is, I was listening to some fanmusic and it said that it's a battle theme depicting Littlepic before she becomes a "murderous warrior"
So, what does that mean. Does that means that she becomes a crazy murderer or does it just mean that she becomes a warrior.
I didn't want to google it, because I want my Fallout Equestria experience to be completely magical and spoiler-free.
I know that it's stupid to open a topic just for this, but I really need to know this.
Sorry if you think that this is spam, hopefully I'll get a response.

Answering the question outright would be a spoiler. All I will say is that you should read the story and judge for yourself, and that I promise you won't be disappointed.

I have a question for you, though: How are you planning to read the story? If you're going to be reading it on a computer (or anything else that can read PDFs and has a screen 10 inches or larger), I recommend using the PDFs from the printing project, as they're much prettier and better formatted. (link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47908158/Version%2017.zip )

If you were planning to read it on something with a smaller screen, PDFs don't work too well. Scorch_Mechanic has an Epub ebook version he compiled himself, that's better than the other custom ebook versions I've seen, but not as nice as the aforementioned printing project's PDFs. I need to get the link from him again...

GODDAMNIT!! I just opened Littlepip's page on Fallout Equestria while waiting for your response, and it said status: alive, and then spoiler (in epilogue).
Why would they even put something like that in a general information box. So I naturally had to read the spoiler to know if she stays alive, and it says she end up in a coma!
Fucking shit!!! That's it, I'm not reading it, and I was looking forward to this SO MUCH :(
I ruin almost every book and movie this way. I'm so fuckin' stupid :(

To be honest, paladin, the 'end' of the story is not really where the true meat of FO:E's worth stems from. It is the journey, that RPG crossed with a serial sense that takes you on a two month quest of ups and downs with her. That is where the enjoyment comes from.

I have many favourite parts, and all of them are from that middle 80% of the story. Don't be put off because you know one ending point that, frankly, the story actually telegraphs way in advance anyway. It's not supposed to be a "Then this sudden thing happened!" shock moment. You can tell she's headed that way from at least 10 chapters before it.

Furthermore, if you've played Fallout 3, you'll be in familiar territory anyway. Thus, given how closely FO:E follows the heart of that story, you'll know that anyway.

How come? I thought that the Lone Wanderer just dies at the end of Fallout 3?

IF you don't have any DLC installed (s)he does.

Also, I read FoE using Droids version of Word, it works fine as far as I know. (Has Galaxy Epic S 1)
Being normal is boring, that's why I'm crazy!

Do not read the story for the ending, read the story to experience the journey.

One more question: How long does it take to read it? I know there are different sorts of readers, but just approximately.
I know that it's really, really long :)

Don't worry about the ending. I was pretty much spoiled the same way but with fanart instead. It's still the greatest story I have ever read and it's still not really as you think. The ending is very unique and such a short spoiler as that can hardly do much. :pipshrug:

Read it. I'm sure I was spoiled even more than you on that part anyway. "Pictures tells more than a thousand words", wasn't it?

I read it in two weeks, 13 days to be exact. But I was a fuckin addict so.... yeah....

I'm gona guess it should take way more time than that. It's possible though if you have a smart phone with you and read every single minute of your spare time. Including late nights of reading.

Edit: And I'm a slow reader.

Sorry, still can't read it :(
I like to think about what could happen while reading a book, and I can't do that when I already know the ending.
It sucks, because I was totally again in that awesome post-apocalyptic mood (like when I play Fallout) prior to finding about the ending.
Guess I will have to move on :(
