I'm curious as to everyone's opinions on them. I know that they never appear in FoE itself, seeming to be replaced by Sky Tanks, but I do remember them appearing in PH to some extent, being flown by wing power alone. (I've only read up to Ch 36, btw)
The reason I ask is because in my fic, Wings of Steel, which is about a Vertibuck squadron during the Great War, I take the Vertibucks from the FoE games, engines and all, and just stick pegasi in the pilot seats, with a few modifications as to how they fly them.
So, engine power or wing power? Discuss.

Re: Vertibucks?
Amplified wing power for me. That seems to be the norm of most of Equestria's vehicular technology, using gem enchantments to amplify movement.
Or, alternatively, spark reactors. Like in powered wagons!

It's hard to kill memories when you remember everything.

Re: Vertibucks?
I would say engine power because if they releyed on wing power they'd be an easy target for zebras, and they might have used magic, gemstones or some other resource to power the engines. What do you think they might have used?

hi hi
There were griffinchasers though. The MarkII and the MarkV were mentioned in Fallout Equestria.

- Chapter 36, page 1269...when one of those huge, new-model whirligigs -- a
Griffinchaser V -- descended out of Canterlot, landing on the far side
of the Zebratown commons. Now despite my position as Royal
Astronomer, I had never actually seen one of the Ministry Mares.
Today, I saw two. Fluttershy, Mare of the Ministry of Peace emerged
from the passenger compartment along with eight other ponies, five
of whom were carrying pink suitcases.
Pinkie Pie, Mare of the Ministry of Morale, stepped down from one of
the six pedal positions, and ordered the heavily laden ponies to follow
her.

Yep, Griffonchasers. The "Mark I" is implied to be the whirlygig Pinkie Pie seemingly conjures out of thin air in "Griffon the Brush-Off". For more military-oriented stuff, the Enclave's flying tanks were enchanted to be controlled and propelled by a single pegasus in an internal harness, so they could certainly do hover and VTOL type stuff.
