Re: The advice thread
Thanks! I guess for now I'll just finish reading Horizons for now, and maybe a few others. If they work with what I have in mind, maybe I'll incorporate them, if not, oh well.
Re: The advice thread
Now I feel flattered; someone uses my story as canon! xDKashin wrote: That is more of a personal preference, I would say stick to what you consider head cannon, for example at the moment my story considers Price of Paradise, Aqua Pura, and Pink Eyes as hard cannon and Horizons, ToC and Heroes as soft cannon.
I seriously need to write more of it... To the Word-mobile!
Oh, yeah, by the way; plagiarism is when you steal someone elses work and attempt to pass it of as your own. If you let your character simply listen to a recording from another story or something, it's not plagiarism, but referencing it. At least that's how I've understood referencing works here; if this was a research paper (where I am more familiar with these terms), then it would be called a quote, which is perfectly legal and often used as long as you give the proper credit.

Re: The advice thread
Hi, i first came here recently, about three weeks since i joined, but has anyone written yet an event where the pony cast goes to the moon? This would be merely a mix of some falllout original backstory (maybe some aliens) and the title 'Mare on the Moon'... Luna must have seen some things out there, don't you think? Wouldn't it make sense for a Fallout verse where they had actually made trips on the moon, say, 'vault/stable' sized bases on the moon, missile platforms maybe? If no one has done this then i will be the one start it in my side-fic, if so i would still like some possible ideas, advice =D.
Re: The advice thread
To my knowledge, Project Horizon mentions that Equestria had a space-program, but it was terminated in the laters stages of the war due to a scandale with the only astronaut. However, she did manage to end up on the moon once I think.ChaosMedler wrote:Hi, i first came here recently, about three weeks since i joined, but has anyone written yet an event where the pony cast goes to the moon? However, there's no barrier for you writing something that involve secret government projects and stuff. xD

Re: The advice thread
Okay, I've had this story idea for a while now, and I want to see if it's actually interesting to anyone. Anyways, I've come up with a plot line, some characters, etc, for it so far and I just made the description for it now... so, if you'd please, tell me what you think of my idea and ways you think I may be able to improve on it.
Fallout Equestria: Shooting Stars
Soaring Eagle, a self-sustaining observation post orbiting the land below, has been crippled, sealing it's fate as it slowly drifts closer to the earth below. The ponies on board the station at the time of the apocalypse were saved the horrors of the wastes below, able to live out their lives in relative peace. They watched as the mega-spells went off, as the Pegasi sealed the land below to their torments, and the reawakening of the land below as the clouds once more opened. As the ponies of Soaring Eagle prepare to return to the world below, what horrors will await them?
Shooting Stars centers around a young mare by the name of Star Fall who's lived her entire life in space. Observation post: Soaring Eagle has been orbiting around the land below since shortly before the bombs fell, made by a rival corporation to Stable-Tec which due to many failures didn't make it out there to the public. (Don't have a name for it yet...) The rival company tried to reproduce and improve on Stable-Tec designs such as the wonderful Pip-Bucks they produced... but they never succeeded, the smallest they could get technology like the Pip-Buck in their own designs was to the size of a suit. The rival company nearly gave up until they went after an untapped market area: Space. They succeeded in establishing a self-sustaining observation post, able to hold over a hundred ponies when functioning at it's peak. A few generations have come and gone now, living in a safe and comfy environment as they could only watch the land below.
However, after a collision with some debris in space, Soaring Eagle is crippled, slowly but surely falling from the sky as it circles. Star Fall is among some of the few chosen to head to the land below to try and scout a suitable place to live now that their home is dying. (Bout as much as I want to go out of what I have so far as to avoid spoilers if I go through with this.)
The gravity at Soaring Eagle was less then half the force when on land, living for a few generations on the station having weakened the bones of all the ponies living there as well as making them smaller then most. Most ponies of 'age' have some sort of medical training as broken bones are frequent, and the comfy-ness of their lives have allowed them to pressure talents in the arts, science, and inventive ways, but when faced with the hard life of the wastes they're unprepared. The differences in oxygen levels (Soaring Eagle's oxygen content being nearly 100% oxygen while the planet has a much, much smaller ratio.), weaponry (Any spark or flame could run the risk of igniting the entire station on fire.), and gravity (Which immobilizes them due to the combination of higher gravity and weak bones and muscles.) leave them at major disadvantages; but what they lack in strength and size, they make up for with smarts and their inventive nature (Being suck on a station can get real boring if nothing new came about...).
So... anyone want to review this and lead me some advice, that'd be amazing! (Will probably change the description as well... many, many times...)
Edit: Changed the description of the story.

Hates posting on forums as I never want to misstep somepony.
Re: The advice thread
One comment on your story idea is that low gravity doesn't cause people/animals to become smaller over time. Just the opposite actually. Because of their bodies being less dense, they'll actually be bigger than their normal gravity counterparts. It's in high gravity environments that people/creatures become smaller as their bodies become more dense.

Re: The advice thread
For the reasons you yourself stated, having the oxygen level near 100% is an absolutely /retarded/ design choice. If the ponies who made the station were intelligent to get it up there, they would never have done so. Not to mention, I am fairly sure it's not healthy to have that much oxygen for extended periods of time, but don't quote me on that. Also, as already mentioned, a lower gravity would make ponies larger than usual. The muscles and bones, however, would be weaker. While evolution is not fast enough to have made the ponies significantly much larger, everyone on the station would have very weak muscles and bones, and as such would have trouble just walking on the surface of the planet; it would feel like they walked around with a backpack (or saddlebag) that contained their own weight.zaczac111 wrote:

I do not recommend that you do this, unless it's important for the story or you want it for other reasons beside "Why not"; your character will have major troubles doing even normal things such as walking. If he or she wants to actually carry stuff, it's even worse. :3

Re: The advice thread
I well have some questions. And sorry for my bad half Odessan English.
1. Actually I asked it in the other thread, but will again, to well be sure. I'm usin' number 80 to one of my Stables, but I noticed that this one was already well taken. But I can't change it in any cases. Only if to 88, but it's well taken too. I decided to leave it and use 80, but I'm still well not sure.
2. None of my stories' chapters are well finnished (not to mention that they wasn't translated), but I wonder if I can make thread for 'em to describe 'em. Though I don't think I will find any readers.
3. Uhm... I well forgot it. I could ask many more questions, but It's late night and I wanna sleep.
P.S. I'm writin' some FoE themed anecdotes. Maybe I'll translate 'em and post 'ere. Or maybe even draw.
P.P.S. when I saw this smile: I thought that it's a butt. I'm such a perv. Or just need to wear glasses more often.
