Black Ember entered Stable 13 when she was five on the day that fire rained from the sky and Equestria was ruined. Ember got her cutie mark one night, but on her cuteceañera, she lost it. Her absent cutie mark urged her to travel out into the wastes and help the ponies who had survived so far. But things quickly went wrong, as usual. Then, Ember found a map hidden deep within a pile of rubble, a place she'd never had looked had she not been trapped under it. The map supposedly leads to paradise and safety, but as Ember and her companions follow it, they discover that it also leads to a dark, dark secret. As Ember reveals more and more, she puts the pieces together and discovers not only the past but the future which reveals only murky darkness. Can Ember fix the future? Can she change the fate of Equestria? Follow Ember and her three companions through the wastes as they find themselves and unravel the past, the present, and the future. Their main goal overall, though, is to survive.
