As for coloration, the core three alicorns are midnight purple, blue-black and very dark green (littlepip mistook them all for black on a first glance). We also know that the blue ones have green hair and eyes that "look like windows into hell" which I read as glowing red.
So what I would do (if we are talking about a half breed) is limit my self to dark, cold colors (sort of like level 1 discording) and go with something hot for the eyes (red, yellow, purple, pink).

Nah, they aren't sterile. They simply don't have any males. I'm pretty sure I remember the last chapter of the main story saying that Redeye is giving the alicorns (atleast the green ones) males in exchange for their loyalty. I read it as "alicorn males", but it might be normal ones too. I don't know how the genetics for alicorns work... It might work in such a way that alicorns and ponies can have offspring, but that offspring is sterile. :pipshrug: Not sure.

I'm running on the "alicorns are all three races", so therefore can breed, but if they breed with a non-alicorn, they'll usually not produce another alicorn.

I do things, sometimes. Maybe...

Hm. I suddenly realized while writing that Gears is going to be heavily motivated by radio transmissions (as in, DJ-PON3 and such). However, I am not sure how I'll manufacture the sendings to look realistic. Not to mention, I'm not sure if I dare be arrogant enough to give him his own little DJ.
Though, if I do, I'll call the station "Radio Nowhere". xD

Ooo, that could make for a good listpost...

do you mean how to write the broadcasts themselves? How to have him encounter the stations? Or how to have them affect the story?

That sounds good, no shame in it. It is doubtful that most stations can manage more than a few dozen miles so smaller stations make perfect sense.

I think most of the smaller transmitters are just ham radio sets. Black mountain radio for example has only a short range.
The ludicrously short range of the ham sets in the drainage chambers within Fallout 3 can be ignored.
Real ham radios, while only relatively low powered, can reach other countries depending on what is going on in the atmosphere. The other factors effecting range are line of sight (or how much crap is between the transmitter and the receiver), and how much other electromagnetic interference there is.

To write the broadcasts themselves.
Determine who the DJ is, know what news bit or word of wisdom you want them to express and then imaging how they would monologue/rant about it.
How to encounter.
A PipBuck or other EFS system would do just fine for picking them up. If he wants to keep them after he leaves the effective range have him help the owner boost the signal with a quest or use his own PipBuck as a relay.
How to have them affect the story.
Knowledge is power, toughs who can decide who gets what information and what perspective the hear it from hold incredible power. In FO3, imagine if 3 dog was working for the slavers and everything you did to liberate the wasteland was twisted into an unprovoked crime; the wasteland would hate you instead of love you.

Speaking of radio broadcasts I was toying with the idea of having a pro-Steel Ranger/Applejack's Rangers in my story. They would be a wastelander living in a Steel Ranger controlled mining camp and they try to promote the good that the Steel Rangers are doing and bashes the Enclave. I was also thinking of making him a Dashite too. So what do yall think.

Oh and I can't decide if I should expand the combat range scene in Chaptet 2. Though what would add I have no idea, aside from a hoof-to-hoof sparring match. I just fill the shooting test for Prism and the shooting contest isn't enought. Any ideas?

Okay, so... I have now (partially) developed a fourth character, which is all well and nice. However, I'm not sure I'm doing this right; I don't really have any plot for each other characters. They will mostly just follow Gears, and I'll take it from there.
Is this a bad thing? It seems to be that for example Kkat and (especially) Somber have a plan for every single character in there.

Y'know, sometimes I wonder if it's a bloody stupid idea to try to write anything Fo:E related. To use a norwegian proverb; it's like jumping after Virkola. (That is, trying to do something after someone who is really good at it. )
