Interesting Character Quirks
Interesting Character Quirks
Totally not trying to steal The Jack's thunder here. Nosiree.
Anyways, are there any interesting quirks about your character? Habits? Interests? Specialties? Favorite stuff?
In Frost's case...
-One of his weapons, Midnight Talon, is a balisong (otherwise known as a "butterfly knife" AKA the thing the TF2 Spy uses). He can pull some seriously insane moves with it too (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTkEGNj1DkE). This does lend to creeping people (not just ponies, silly people), though I haven't gotten much into that yet since he's only stuck to familiar or hostile areas.
-He's what ErrantIndy calls a "techno berserker." Frost is really into music of all sorts of genres, and though music can soothe the savage beast, it can also unleash it.
-He knows how to play the piano pretty well. He's no Horowitz though (even if I do put his links in).
-He gets incredibly hostile if he sees or hears blasphemy toward the Goddesses, especially Luna. This can cause some... unintentional injury or death.
-He loves biscuits for some reason. Really. I mean it. Biscuits.

Weeee, sounds like he and LittlePip would get along well when she starts breaking out the infamous swearing. [/sarcasm] xD
Hmm, interesting character quirks that Gears have... Not sure what counts as "interesting". He's Steel Ranger level interested in technology :3
He's also very fond of the radio; both the news and the music.

Re: Interesting Character Quirks
Damn, that brings back memories. I had one of those in high school, bought it off a friend when I started freshman year and practiced with it all the time. That thing lived in the side of my boot for years. I'll tell you, nothing stops a fight faster then pulling one of these out and doing a few quick moves. Never one actually had to use it in a fight, they always backed downAdder1 wrote:One of his weapons, Midnight Talon, is a balisong (otherwise known as a "butterfly knife" AKA the thing the TF2 Spy uses). Sadly, I sold it when I moved to California since the laws were stricter there.
Re: Interesting Character Quirks
Silver doesn't really understand narration rules so her voice tends to get a bit off the wall. Specifically she doesn't understand the proper use of brackets, and peppers them liberally whenever she can (once putting a bracket in a bracket).
She also has a bit of a fear of heights. She couldn't read until a year before the story, and still is not very good at it. Despite her low INT she is very knowledgeable about the care and upkeep of guns, even if she doesn't know what the parts are called. She also spends a lot of time listening to the news, despite never really caring, a habit she picked up when listening to the Light Bringers adventures.
and other stuff.

Yeah, they're illegal in California. I really don't get it. Folding knives are legal. Pocket knives are legal. So why the hell aren't balisongs? >.<
Ah, well. At least I still have one of these: http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/cubegoodies/b6e6/

Re: Interesting Character Quirks
In Australia (Victoria at least), ANY knife is illegal now. They had the law down to something like maximum 3cm blade, but I'm pretty sure we are now only allowed to carry spoons.

Re: Interesting Character Quirks
I was never sure if they were legal in Nevada, but the couple times the police saw it they gave it back as I was leaving when I mentioned it was just for self defense. One of them even asked for a demonstration, seemed really impressed which boosted my 15 year-old egoAdder1 wrote:That is so flippin' awesome! XDArcane_Scroll wrote:Damn, that brings back memories. Re: Interesting Character Quirks
One character I'm writing is utterly incapable of aiming a gun. No real reason, he just sucks at aiming. I like to make things tough for characters I come up with.

Re: Interesting Character Quirks
For character quirks I have certain ones for each of my characters, for Gizmo it's a sort of arrogance he has about his inventing skills and tech. For Spritzle she's rather childish but knows her way around an operating table. For Pyre he treats everypony he meets like a friend unless they prove to him that they aren't. Innocent has a problem with chronic depression. Nightshade for some reason can ignore any close personal death around her. And finnally Starfruit likes to tease anypony.
Re: Interesting Character Quirks
Radiant Star, my main protagonist.
She's an alicorn who is currently harboring the memories and emotions of one Twilight Sparkle. She's also a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse, so she really cares about helping other ponies when she can. This sometimes gets her into a lot of trouble.
She's also a bit of a slacker, and a procrastinator. Only in recent chapters has this started to fade because of the increased influence that Twilight's emotions/memories have gained over her. Also because of Twilight's influence she has a voice in her head she talks to that calls itself Spark, who is rather sarcastic in nature. She is fond believer of individuality, her time in Unity under the Goddess and after she reverted to her personality made her realize she preferred being recognized as an individual and the benefits of being unique as opposed to sharing mind body and soul.
She is absent-minded, her Perception being a 4. She tends to be forgetful, especially in the heat of the moment in combat as she sometimes tends to forget how to use certain abilities. In keeping with this, she also has a tendency to monologue to herself, which usually results in her not paying any attention to anything going on at that moment.
