There are some errors in that doc, Kkat. One of the links points to the wrong place (and I didn't click on all of them, so you may want to check them all), and there's half a sentence about your companions that's been kidnapped from its intended paragraph and dumped under the previous item in the list.Kkat wrote:By popular demand, my list of mod recommendations for Fallout: New Vegas.

Much smaller, you will note, than my list for F3. But lots of gold there.

Well, here goes nothing.
Fallout New Vegas Lets Play:
Your first question might be who I am. It's a good and understandable question and it deserves an answer fitting. My name is Lucy, I was born in Washington DC on July 13 2258. I then lived in Vault 101 till the age of 19 and then left. Outside I, well I changed. I found out about who I was, who my family was. I saw things that made me frightened, I saw things which made me angry, I saw things that made me sad. But through it all I persevered, I took on impossible odds and found myself worthy of the challenge. I fought against the worst the world could through my way. From the Anchorage simulation to the brutal ways of the Pit, the horrid swamps of Point Lookout and the machinations of two whom had lasted since before the war I survived. I brought the Enclave low and even took down two alien star ships!
I was a force that no one could stop. I had done the impossible, I had done the ridiculous and I had survived.
Then one day, I did something that in hindsight I shouldn't have. I played around with piece of technology I found on small base set up by the aliens I had defeated.
I died, at least in part...
What's happening?
Voices?
Shovel? I'm in a graveyard... NO!
I can't seem to speak, I can't seem to control my movements...
I'm going to die.
No point in trying to fight it, just accept that this is it.
So, all this over a chip huh. Must be something special for three guys to come all the way out here and kill me.
Yep, here it comes. 9mm Lobotomy Express
Heh, guy on the right looks high as hell.
It's been fun, I will say that.
...
Ouch, my head hurts like it's never hurt before. Guess I'm down stairs now, and after all that good I thought I did. Well I guess I did kill a lot of folk, even if they were deserving. Wonder if the devils red like they say.
Or maybe not.
Yep, I'm still alive. Being dead wouldn't leave me with a headache this bad.
Old guy, doctor most likely.
It turned out I'd spent the last few days out of the world dreaming of a better place. My mind, such as it was at this point was being torn in two. On one hand I had shattered broken memories of being Lucy, Mojave Express courier girl. On the other hand was Lucy the Lone Wanderer and all around badass with her own shattered and broken memories. To say that it was confusing was an understatement.
We did the normal doctor/patient things. Physical, Physiological, Medical History. Basic stuff really. Then the good Doc gave me a new Pipboy Readius and my old Armoured 101 Vault Suit and sent me on my way.
Welcome to Goodsprings, conveniently located right next to the ass end of nowhere. General Store and Saloon, nothing special to see here.
The Doc mentioned something about a local being able to help me survive in the desert, and considering how bad I felt I decided he had a good idea.
The Saloon
Meet Easy Pete. He gave me some good info on what was what. I needed a basic refresher after my brains involuntary reformat. He set me straight on a few things, but I didn't really want to listen to his life story.
Sunny Smiles. Cheesy name, but she seems honest enough. I wonder, future help in my travels? Hope so, cause I want that man DEAD! She was good enough to tell me about the surroundings and even gave me a gun to set me back up.
After shooting some targets we went hunting Geckos, during the course of which we saved this lady drawing water from the reservoir. I got a few bottles handed my way and went back to meet Trudy, supposedly she was someone important in the town.
Turns out this town has problems brewing.
So that was an escaped convict, wanted a trader holed up in the town named Ringo. Otherwise Trudy was able to give me a tip on where that man was headed. Prim, lucky Sunny had already given me directions. The smart thing to do here would probably be to wait a few days and get my bearings right, but something tells me I'm going to lose the trail if I don't move now. It's just bugging me is all.
...
So, should I leave Goodsprings and head for Prim or stay and help them with their Powder Ganger problem. Or should I help the Powder Gangers?

Re: Fallout NV lets play
The people in this town probably saved your life, and you're thinking of blowing them off just for revenge on some stranger? I say stick around and help 'em out.
Re: Fallout NV lets play
Part 2:
I decided to postpone vengeance and help out Goodsprings with their problems.
It also started to rain.
The General Store, run by a man named Chet. I'd popped in to pick up some ammo and stuff. He's the stereotypical money hoarding trader. Nothing I couldn't handle.
After I left the rain had really started to pour. It was about 1 pm and it was dark evening.
Meet Ringo. The poor sap seemed reluctant to trust me, not that I can blame him considering. After offering to help he stated just the two of us would be suicide, despite my protests to the contrary. Reluctantly I went and got help.
Lots of help.
Then it was time for the Old Western style fight. Joe Cobb brought seven men with him.
None made it out alive.
Ringo found me after and paid me caps, not that I'd asked for any, and then we went to the Saloon to drink and make merriment.
I even convinced Sunny to join me on my travels. It was awesome.
On my way out, slightly drunk, Easy Pete gave me a deed to one of the houses in the town as a way of thanks. Easy Pete, what a guy!
What's up with that Robot?
Home Sweet Home.
Went up to a cave near by and found these people.
They kinda freaked me out some.
That looks like Primm, time to go pay that guy a visit.
But first...
This place was good to loot, there were two Powder Gangers, but me and Sunny made them a problem no more.
Further along I saw this little camp.
Picked both of em off before they even saw me. Seriously, these guys are giving this 'NCR' trouble? What the fuck are they doing? Also scored some whiskey and scotch.
Going the right way alright.
So, we finally meet the all powerful NCR? Lets see what they're made of.
Seems like the towns over run, and is that guy armed with same gun as me? What the hell? Can't they afford to arm their own soldiers properly?
Looks bad.
Will have to go there, first lets see what the NCR's force looks like.
... That's it?
Meet Misty. Better equipped than the entire Primm outpost, probably more motivated and the NCR isn't even willing to let her have a go? Yep, opinion falling quickly.
Went over the bridge, didn't see the mine until it was to late. It hurt a lot.
Timed my shots to the lightning, worked for the most part.
Old Sheriffs office.
Empty, which is good for me. Looted the building, he didn't need it any more.
Nice gun, found a Safe to. Had a nice .44 Revolver in it called Lil'Mac. Don't know why but hey, it's cool.
Inside I met the man with the plan. Told me all about my previous job. My memory of what happened before the night I was shot still eludes me. He also told me about the one who was meant to take the job. Then pointed out that if I wanted more info on the man who shot me I'd have to rescue this Deputy Beagle. Seems easy enough.
While checking the surrounding buildings for more convicts I found this. Had a sniper and some cool gear. Next is to check the Mojave Express building, then storm the casino!
End Part 2.

Part 2.9
After checking out the roof top and finding that survival kit, I decided it was time to clear out the Mojave Express building.
The one on the table was beyond my ability to fix. The other robot was an old mobile healing unit. Someone had changed the coin operated system to a cap operated one, and thus I now have a Doctor!
Then it was into den.
I killed every convict that came to greet me at the door without issue.
Then went in further and found this sleepy head. Also, WHAT THE FUCKING HELL IS UP WITH THIS RIFLE?
Next off was the upstairs area.
There were more, but me and the team killed them all.
Outside on the roller coaster we found this. The new rifle also works like a charm.
Then went and rescued Beagle. Turns out the one I'm hunting went to Novac. I guess heading to Nipton first seems sound, better to follow his exact path.
Then Beagle tells me he want to find a new Sheriff? What? The great and powerful Beagle not up to the task?
Pfft Robot with a cowboy hat. Maybe he should be Sheriff, seems better than an ex crook like Beagle wanted or NCR.
Also talked to Nash about the issue. Said the same as Beagle. Also told me to keep the Robot as a gift for helping the town.
---
Now what?
Anywhere people think we should go?

You did see a sign that listed a Nipton? Might be a town worth checking out.
