Hello!
I'm in the middle of planning to make some sprite art for Fallout 2, just to see if it is possible and how hard it would be. So I thought I'd make some characters sprites with Littlepip in them. I'm just a bit unsure on how she would be holding the weapons in some of the animations. I have so far only read the first 7-8 chapters of FE, but I got the idea that unicorns usually use telekinesis when handling weapons.
Would it make sense to have her use telekinesis for all the melee weapons as well? I mean, the strength attribute wouldn't make sense, but I don't really see how else she could use a spear or sledgehammer with her hooves.
What about idling animations? Should the weapon keep hovering in the air when idle?

Re: Weapon holding
I think weapon holding in general has to be the most talked over thing in all of FoE. It is currently main topic to discuss at EqSoftworks, too.
Anyway, if you only want to make Little Pip, I would say let her use levtitation. Any picked up object would probably move a bit up and down, while idle.
For melee weapons, it's a bit contradictory. On one hand, you should not really be able to apply real force to a levitated object, as it only reduces it's weight. On the other hand, some unicorns used levitated melee weapons, if I remember correctly. You just have to go with what you think is right in that place.

Thank you for your help! Yeah it would probably be for the best to use levitation. It would also be a lot easier to animate. What color would fit Little Pip's telekinesis fields?
Here's a little screenshot from the static model I got so far.

I am not sure if this will actually go anywhere. The number of sprites for a single Fallout 2 character is staggering, around 6000 frames, spread across 6 directions and 165 animations. And even then some animations use special effects like blood splattering and weapon bursts which can't be easily animated in Blender.

Re: Weapon holding
Wow, nice work!
I don't really know if her magic color is mentioned somewhere in the fic. But if it isn't I would probably go with either green or light grey / white.
The last color, just because I like the idea of an unicorn's magic color changing to the coat color of the one they love. (Allegrezza reference right there. >.<)

Re: Weapon holding
To me using melee weapons with telekinesis makes perfect sence. The more it weights, the harder it is to carry it. Pretty natural really and it has been showed in both the original FiM show and in the book. Remember that Twilight had to consentrate extremely hard when fixing the mess after Trixie all when carrying several really, really heave objects/creature? Also, that Littlepip is getting specialized at carrying heavy stuff. Like the traincart! The problem is when separating the strength of their telekenesis and their muscle.
Either you could limit unicorns muscle strength to always be normal while the "strength" points only affects their telekenesis or you could have a second strength bar for telekenesis.
Honestly though, it would be easier to just not associate telekenesis with strength at all. Instead, being extra good with telekenesis or really bad should depend on what kind of magic they specialise in. Unicorns and humans are very different so if you were going to make a mod that makes sence you would probably have to change quite a lot in the game. SO, what you do now is just fine.
Personally, I prefer her magic to be green as it is somewhat iconic with that colour in Fallout. Same thing with her eyes. That stuff you're doing is really cool!
