Overstallion of Reddit's FOE subreddit checking in

Post by the4thaggie » Mon Jan 07, 2013 6:40 pm

I would like to start off by saying "thank you" to everyone here for blossoming this fandom farther than I ever (as a fan) expected it to. I've come to understand that there are many bronies that will not even give it a chance. The negative premise of the series and the mature topics scare away most of my local pony groups, so I'd expect that to be the case throughout. The amount of artistic and narrative talent coming from this sub-genre of bronies has truly impressed me, and my mind is blown when I immerse myself in the sea of fanfics and (seemingly daily) new plots and OCs. I'd also like to give my appreciation to Tebee (my right hand) for making our community's subreddit look and function well.

As mentioned in the title, I am the Overstallion (creator and head mod) of reddit's /r/falloutequestria. Though, I am not anything too spectacular. My fortes are policy and management in the professional world, but I've dabbled a bit in music and art for the last decade. I've been playing guitar since 2000, and my redeeming talent has been the ability to (more or less) tab a song by ear. I had some 2D drawing talent around the turn of the century, but college and a lack of fandom to devote myself to led to those skills fading.

Most of my stagnant artistic talent lies with 3D modelling/animation. I've switched to using Source Film Maker due to its speed and ease. I'm looking to get into voice overs/acting because I have a deep southern voice, and I enjoy it. My problems lie with practice and small speech impediments, but I'm a fan of the mantra "You can do anything so long as you try hard enough".

In regards to the consumption of media within this fandom, I particularly enjoy the main fanfic (duh) and Project Horizons. I've read or begun reading MN7, Pink Eyes, Anywhere but Here, etc. I identify myself most to Blackjack, but I don't go through episodes of self-hate like her. I enjoy well done pieces of art, but welcome everyone with any degree of talent to share their work. I am a huge fan of FOE Radio.

My social connections within the brony community are limited, but I regularly cook steaks and drink with DJ Silver Eagle (Ponyville Live/Luna Radio) and WeAreBorgPony (Head Admin of the EQD Steam group/servers). I pale in comparison, but I digress. I hope to do my best for the community.

I should be relatively active here. I've come to realize that the reddit format does not suit all purposes, but it does make consumption faster/organized for a broader range of interests.

So keep fighting the good fight.
