Spoiler: show"Religious, me? No, it was my father who bevlieved in that superstitious nonsense, hence my name. I put my faith in bolts, gears, and arcano-tech crystals. Things that actually make a difference."
Faith has always had a knack for technology. Even as a filly, travelling the wasteland with her father, she'd fix up old pre-war tech, and sometimes even build new gadgets from salvaged scrap. "Knack" might be a bit of an understatement, though, at least if you ask her, as she'd probably describe herself as a technological genious. One could debate how true that statement is, but there is no doubt that machines and gadgets are her forté.
After her father was killed by a particularily disappoined customer and a couple of months of wandering, Faith settled down in a small village in the northern Equestrian Wasteland, far away from all the ruckus the in the south. As the only technologically proficient pony in the village, she found herself quite wanted. She spent her days building and fixing stuff up, and despite preferring the company of her tools, workbench and machines, she made som good friends there, and grew quite content with her place in the world. Sure, it wasn't easy all the time, and there wasn't much in the form of construction or robotics for her, aside from the occasional salvaged robot, but it was a life she could live and actually enjoy.
But, as we all know, the Wasteland won't leave a pony happy for too long. Eight years after Faith came to live in the small village, it was overrun by a large raiding party led by a cruel stallion named Blunt Knife, working under the slaver warlord known as Bleeding Heart. Many of the townsfolk were killed in the attack, and the rest were taken as slaves by the raiding party as they set up shop in the village. Faith happened to be among the enslaved ones.
After six months of pain, humiliation, and other despicable things, she had managed to steal and salvage enough spark cells to make a small improvised magical energy bomb. Faith seized her opportunity when the former village was attacked by what probably was a Steel Ranger patrol. In the resulting chaos, she managed to sneak away and set off her bomb. The resulting explosion, while somewhat small and unreliable, melted a hole in the village wall, allowing Faith to finally escape into the Wasteland once again.
Now, after losing everyone she'd cared about to either slavery or death, the one thing on Faith's mind is revenge against both Blunt knife and the pony behind him, Bleeding Heart. She knows she can't do it on her own, though. If only she could find anyone willing and able to take arms against the slaver warlord...

Okay, er... I honestly can't make heads or tails of it. The guide post on the forum doesn't really help.
I join the chat through some IRC client, right? I've never used one before, so... Is there any you recommend?
Also... why not Skype?

You can either use this site's web-chat (here) or Canternet's web-chat (here), or you can download and install a local IRC client like mIRC, KVIrc, or (if you use Firefox) ChatZilla. There are tons of other ones, but these are probably the most popular.
The two web-chat clients will automatically connect to the Canternet network. If you use one of the stand-alone local clients, you'll need to connect to irc.canternet.org.
Once connected, you'll need to join the appropriate channels by entering /join #RevengeOOC and /join #FoERevenge.
As for why not Skype, IRC is where the vast majority of the users of this site hang out, so it's only natural to use the same system for PNP'ing. Plus, it's become tradition among FoE PNP'ers to have one channel for in-character events and narration, and another channel for out-of-character table chatter and dice rolling.

Re: PNP Group "Revenge" (Session 8 logs up!)
It may be tradition, but I recently had my first vocal only (apart from dice rolls) game. I have to say I am more open towards it now. It can be a hell lot of fun, but you really need people who are not too shy to talk.
I am playing a snobby like unicorn fencer in that game and I could totally live out his character. Especially when he made comments about the walking worm breeding ground (ghoul) in our group.

IRC Chat name: Whirlybird
Character: 'Ghostie'
Race: Alicorn (Blue)
Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... UVE#gid=55
Backstory; From what Ghostie can remember (There are still some blank spots in her memory), she worked as a Ministry of Morale spook during the war, a 'Ghostie', which she uses in place of a name she can't remember. When the bombs fell she was outside of any major cities, on her way to Manehatten for another job from her handler Wetwork. She managed to survive long enough for her to be found by Alicorns and brought to Splendid Valley, where she had little choice but to joining Unity.
After the Splendid Valley incident, confused, alone, and amnesiac as she chased shadows of memories. After a year of wandering and trying to put the pieces together, she came across an old and abandoned Ministry of Morale facility, as well as some old equipment that belonged to her. Having found something from her previous life, she stalked around the wasteland for another year, unsure what to do once she did make sense of some of her memories.

Ok, well that sucks. I didn't realise we were playing already, and I had plans for this weekend since a while back. Oh well, not the end of the world ^^. If another spot ever comes up again, I'll take it right away.
You can't stop the rain. All you can do is build a roof... and hope it doesn't leak.
