That's a really excellent point, gotta agree. I do enjoy playing with the 16 hour day in KKat's game, feels unique, and (as Kkat just noted) having a 12 hour EI and 4 hours as normal sleep would be functionally similar to the 24 hour with 6 hours of sleep.
Luckyleaf wrote:My main objective with this is actually providing variation on the needs for survival. I was loosely based on the idea that sleep deprivation has been shown to induce a need for greater energy intake for animals. I'm inclined to take liberties on this, because a player wouldn't be inclined to take a trait with no upside, and it doesn't really bring an interesting variation for the gameplay. I'd be grateful if other alternatives were offered, though.
Absolutely, sorry if I came across as being down on your idea there. It's a solid idea for a perk in a more survival-based game, I was just commenting on the name idea for it. If you're familiar with Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, Frostburn and Sandstorm may have some material that could be useful for sparking ideas.
Luckyleaf wrote:I wouldn't force the player to necessarily RP it, but the effects of sleep deprivation to one's demeanor and emotions are well documented. Just as other aspect of sleep, need, effects, it can vary from person to person, but it is still very consistent. On top of that, if my personal experience can be of any worth, I see people regularly who are less enthusiastic or confident due to lack of sleep. To me, that warrants a CHA penalty.
I stand corrected, good cite there. Given that, I could easily see CHA implemented as a DM-choice for an additional choice to be effected if not included in the base.
Kkat wrote:Good catch. If this is implimented, we will have to revisit the All Night Long perk. Shouldn't require much though. Maybe All Night Long: You consider your END as 2 points higher in order to resist exhaustion, and ignore END loss for sleep deprivation; your survival rolls to overcome such a situation get a +4 too
I like it.

It's time for another Strange :godna: question.

If an Alicorn uses her shield while her allies are all in the shield and then decides to fly away would her allies slowly settle to the bottom of the shield like it's a giant bowl?

Presumably. They would also presumably weigh her down, unless she cast a TK field around them (which, depending on your interpretation of the magic rules and/or any house rules you may be using, may require dropping the shield).

Godna: No...unless she had the Expert Version of Alicorn Shield and a high enough potency (Each of her allies would count as trying to force through the shield. Potency required would be equivalent to 5+ (1 per ally in my book ).

Of course, that's my opinion. I think Alicorns are too powerful for players anyway. >.>;

It was already established that normal gravity wouldn't be enough to force a player through a shield though. Since you can stand on a shield.

It was just a strange thought on my part that came up in game as a silly escape plan.

Although I do have a question how far are throwing distances with Telekinesis?

Fair enough, though I would say a group of ponies is a different story than a pony. As for the throwing distance of telekinesis, use the effective strength of the telekinesis.

It would presumably be akin to throwing a baseball and having that baseball turn into something else when you let go of it. Initial velocity would be dependent on the effective TK strength, I would think, and distance traveled after releasing the object from the TK field would be a function of that, the real mass of the object, and aerodynamic drag. These factors would probably need to be simplified for gameplay, but just as an example, my Alicorn character once chucked a raider a few hundred feet with no problem (granted, they were both airborne at the time). It's less of a hurl or pitch, though, than it is putting the object on the trajectory you want it to follow, and letting the TK field dissipate. It will continue on that trajectory and at that speed until Sir Isaac Newton says otherwise.

well I was just curious where I could find that. Since I'm just poking about the rules. Since I figure it'd be like throwing a grenade I guess.

Anyway also another question. Telekinetic Grasp. What would be the damage for just squeezing somepony? Or applying direct damage since it is mentioned. (I assume it has the same number of targets as Normal TK since it mentions Targets) There is a lot I'm curious about the mechanics of that spell (I used to have a Free form character that pretty much had that instead of telekinesis)

I don't believe TK throw is codified in the rules as of yet.

Odd, it should be. Rarity's pillow catching/throwing is proof of it.
